At Norwich High School for Girls, inclusivity is not just a value we uphold – it is an integral part of who we are. Every year, the Undivided Survey provides us with invaluable insight into how our students feel about diversity, equity and inclusion within our school community. The results from the 2025 survey have once again reinforced that we are among the most inclusive schools within the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), and most importantly, that we continue to improve.
Our annual Undivided Survey gives us an insight into how students feels about equity, diversity and inclusion at Norwich High.
A school that values every student
We are proud to share some of the outstanding headline figures from this year’s survey:
- 97% of students feel that their culture, faith and background are respected in school (up from 96% last year).
- 97% of students feel that all backgrounds and beliefs are valued equally (up from 94%).
- 97% of students feel that, over the last year, we have worked together to support diversity and inclusion in our school community (up from 95%).
- 95% of students feel like they belong in their peer group (up from 90%).
- 95% of students feel that the staff at our school value different views, beliefs and cultures (up from 94%).
- 94% of students feel comfortable talking about what makes them unique with peers from different backgrounds (up from 88%).
What is particularly remarkable is that there was not a single data point that scored lower than the previous year. Out of 27 key metrics, every single one improved – demonstrating that our commitment to inclusivity is not just steadfast, but continuously evolving and strengthening.

The true measure of our success lies in the voices of our students. Here are just a few of the heartfelt comments they shared:
“I always feel respected in school by the teachers and my friends.”

“There are lots of clubs we can join, which gives us plenty of opportunities. The teachers adapt the work so that everyone is both challenged and supported. My school is the best – I love it here so much!”
“I truly believe that my school is a warm and welcoming place! The teachers and the senior leadership team work hard to ensure that everyone feels included, no matter their culture. It really makes a difference!”
“I feel like we are taught about lots of different topics and study broad and diverse subjects.”
“We are all very respectful of each other’s beliefs.”
“My school teaches us all about diversity and how it is good to be different.”
Celebrating our progress
This year’s survey results are not just numbers – they are a testament to the incredible dedication of our staff, students and wider school community. Whether it’s adapting lesson plans to reflect different learning styles, highlighting diverse figures in assemblies, updating departmental displays, or simply fostering an atmosphere of respect and kindness, every effort has contributed to our success.
One of the newest additions to our diversity and inclusion initiatives is the new diversity poem, a powerful piece that encapsulates the spirit of our school’s commitment to embracing differences and celebrating individuality. It serves as a meaningful reflection of the values we uphold every day.

Reflecting on these results, Matt Bull, our Diversity & Inclusion Lead, shared:
“I always like to think that we’re an inclusive school, but with figures like this, I don’t have to think it – I know it! Thank you to all of you for the wonderful work you do, whether it’s in the classroom, in extracurricular activities, or simply in the way you support and uplift one another.”
While we take a moment to celebrate this achievement, we also recognise that the journey to inclusivity is ongoing. Our commitment to fostering an environment where every student feels valued, heard and empowered remains as strong as ever.
