At Norwich High Prep School, our pupils benefit not only from our nurturing and inspiring all-girls environment, but also from being part of something bigger – the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), a powerful family of 26 schools across the UK. This connection gives our girls access to a world-class junior school education specifically designed for girls, helping them grow in confidence, achieve academic excellence and develop a deep belief in their potential from the earliest age.
Where girls learn without limits
Part of a Family
From her very first day at Norwich High Prep School, your daughter joins the GDST community – a network of girls who are empowered, encouraged and challenged to learn without limits. Being a GDST Junior means sharing experiences with peers across the country, building friendships, resilience and ambition that last a lifetime.
Designed for Girls
The GDST Prep Curriculum is crafted specifically for girls, embracing the way they learn best. It encourages fearless exploration, ambitious thinking and joyful learning. At the heart of it all is our commitment to growing confidence, offering choice and delivering a curriculum that is academically rich and deeply relevant. The impact of a GDST education in the formative years is clearly shown in the GDST Girls’ Futures Research.
- Confidence: Our aim is to set a confidence in a girl’s early years which lasts through school and through life. Our teaching is designed to help girls learn without limits, and our outcomes speak for themselves. GDST Prep School girls are significantly more confident than their non-GDST peers. GDST girls at age nine are over 20% more likely to feel confident taking risks than their counterparts. Resilience levels are also self-reported as higher in GDST Prep school students than the national sample surveyed.
- Choices: A girl’s years at a girls’ school may be the only time in her life she will be in an environment that is designed with her in mind, with people that put her at the centre of all they do and with all choices open to her. Ensuring all options, roles and subjects are available to our students is a given at a GDST Prep School. Thanks to this, GDST research found only 6% of GDST girls aged 9 say they avoid some activities because of their gender, compared to 37% of 9-year-old girls and 31% of boys in national samples. GDST Prep pupils feel, more so than non-GDST students, more prepared to ‘make decisions by themselves’. They also feel, more so than their peers, that school prepares them to ‘look after themselves’. At the age of 9, 79% of GDST pupils feel confident about their ability to overcome problems, compared to 58% of the national sample of girls.
- Curriculum: A bespoke and girl-centred curriculum really matters in Prep years. GDST Prep School pupils, more so than their non-GDST peers, are more likely to feel what they’re taught at school prepares them to communicate well with others, understand people who are different to them, understand what is happening in the world, make a difference in the world, be creative and manage money.
These outcomes are not coincidental – they are the result of a considered, consistent and expert approach to educating girls.
One-of-a-Kind Opportunities
Norwich High Prep girls take part in a rich calendar of GDST-wide events, each designed to spark curiosity and celebrate every girl’s individuality. These include:
- Drama Workshops at Shakespeare’s Globe – with performance opportunities on a national stage
- Junior Science at the Royal Institution – hands-on exploration in one of Britain’s most iconic scientific venues
- Creative Writing and Poetry Prizes – judged by award-winning alumnae
- Our Year 6 Ski Trip – where our pupils gain independence and confidence alongside peers from some of our sister schools
These experiences are not add-ons — they are integral to a GDST Prep education. They expand horizons, deepen learning and are uniquely tailored to the ways in which girls thrive.
Value for Money
We understand that choosing the right school is an investment in your daughter’s future. GDST Prep Schools, including Norwich High Prep, have been rated among the best value-for-money in the UK for academic excellence (Telegraph Money 2025). As part of the GDST, our family of schools benefits from economies of scale and long-term strategic planning, enabling us to deliver highly competitive value for money, which we would not be able to offer as a standalone school. With our sector-leading teaching and exceptional co-curricular provision, we deliver remarkable results – not just in grades, but in the kind of young people our girls become.
Lifelong Success
A GDST Prep education doesn’t just prepare girls for Senior School – it prepares them for life. The values, the voice and the vision they develop with us stay with them long after they leave our school community; with the confidence to lead, the freedom to explore and the belief that anything is possible.
