Last Friday marked an inspiring milestone for Norwich High School for Girls as we welcomed representatives from nine schools to our highly anticipated third Hack-her-thon. In many traditional computer classes – often dominated by boys – girls can sometimes feel sidelined or hesitant to speak up. This event was designed to change that narrative, providing every participant with a dedicated space to express themselves and shine.
The day began with an atmosphere of cautious excitement, as many of our young attendees prepared to step away from the familiar classroom dynamic. Initially, there was understandable apprehension as they approached an environment where their voices might usually be drowned out. However, as the event unfolded, these brilliant young individuals transformed into confident, engaged team members, fully embracing their chance to lead and innovate.
