Norwich High School for Girls is proud to host “EmpowerHer,” a significant event designed to inspire and empower young women, organised Norwich High Sixth Formers Izzy and Saskia and sponsored by Ørsted and the NHSA. Members of the Head Girl team, Izzy and Saskia lead the school’s FemSoc (Feminist Society). This event is open to girls in Year 10 upwards from Norwich High and other local schools, aiming to foster leadership, confidence and critical thinking.

The day promises an exceptional lineup, featuring keynote speaker Laura Bates, the bestselling author, activist and founder of the Everyday Sexism Project. Laura will also be discussing her new release, “The New Age of Sexism: How the AI Revolution is Reinventing Misogyny.” Joining her is Phae Pritchard, QHSE Director for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm and Harriet Green MBE, an internationally renowned business leader and advocate for female leadership. Their talks are set to provide invaluable insights and encourage the attendees to think deeply about contemporary issues affecting women.

Beyond the insightful discussions, “EmpowerHer” will also include refreshments and a Networking Opportunity, allowing the girls to connect with each other, share ideas and build valuable connections in a relaxed setting.

This student-led initiative truly exemplifies Norwich High School for Girls’ commitment to empowering its students and providing them with opportunities to develop leadership skills and make a positive impact. The event is a testament to the proactive spirit of the Head Girl team and FemSoc, who are dedicated to creating a supportive and inspiring environment for young women in the wider community.
