In addition, home to our Prep School and Nursery, Stafford House, has undergone a complete external refurbishment, giving it a fresh new look while also enhancing the interior. We’ve introduced new curtains in the Hall, which not only add a touch of warmth but also improve the overall aesthetic of the space. The flooring in Kindergarten and Lower 1 has also been upgraded, creating a more vibrant and engaging environment for our youngest learners.
The summer holidays saw a series of exciting renovations at Norwich High School for Girls.
The summer holidays were exceptionally busy, not just with our Year 11 and 13 students receiving their fantastic exam results, but also with a flurry of building work, refurbishments, and maintenance throughout the school. Our commitment to providing an innovative and inspiring learning environment has driven these enhancements, starting with a refreshing upgrade to the Sixth Form common room. This revitalised space is now being enjoyed by the largest Lower Sixth cohort we have seen in over a decade, offering both Year 12 and 13 a comfortable and inviting area for private study, socialising during breaks, and enjoying their lunchtimes together.
Building on the first phase of renovations at Eaton Grove, which were completed last summer, we are excited to announce the addition of two new learning spaces and a refreshed café area on the ground floor. These modern facilities are located to the left of the main entrance and incorporate the lovely and historic conservatory. With the renovation in this area, we focused on bringing learning spaces to the forefront of our school, creating vibrant areas that are easily accessible and inviting for all students. By relocating and redesigning these spaces near the main entrance, we’ve enhanced visibility and engagement, encouraging collaboration and creativity among our learners. The new areas not only offer state-of-the-art facilities but also promote a sense of community, making it easier for students, staff and visitors to gather, share ideas, and support one another. This strategic positioning ensures that our commitment to fostering an enriching educational environment is at the heart of our school’s daily experience and the changes are already greatly enhancing the learning experience and providing more opportunities for community engagement.
Year 8 student Elly said:
“I feel like the new classrooms are a great space for learning, as it is a change of scenery from your everyday classrooms, and it makes group work easier as there are big tables.
“Personally I like that in the new Wise Memorial Classroom you are surrounded by windows, so it is really cool to be in that room and to learn there. In the Conservatory, I like the fact that there are multiple screens – so everyone can see, no matter where they are sitting – and the fact that it is a new place makes me enjoy the lessons a bit more, as you aren’t in the same old room.
“The new classrooms are also great for subjects like PSHE and Beyond, as you can sit in the individual tables with your group to discuss projects or work, while also being close to other people to chat, and share ideas with.”
It has been great to show parents and visitors these exciting new spaces in the first weeks of term.
