Goodwood Grand Finale: A Top 15 Finish Crowns a Brilliant F24 Season

Posted on 15th October 2025

In October, our F24 racing team headed to Goodwood for the Greenpower F24 International Finals, having qualified after the recent heats at Lotus, Hethel. Mrs Ryan reports.

On the 11th October, the F24 team travelled to the world-famous Goodwood Motor Circuit for the Greenpower F24 International Finals 2025, joining over 100 cars from across Europe for a day of exciting racing and engineering excellence. It was incredible to compete alongside such a diverse field of teams from all over Europe, sharing ideas, experiences, and a passion for engineering.

We started the day with an hour of practice laps to get used to the new circuit – a chance to experience the speed, scale, and atmosphere of this iconic track. The students worked efficiently through their pit changes, showing great teamwork and independence throughout.

Race 1

We got off to a fantastic start with Tessa at the wheel, setting a strong pace and delivering consistently impressive lap times. A smooth transition saw Emily take over for the middle stint, keeping us in contention, before handing over to Saskia for the final laps. After the race, the car returned to the paddock for some fine-tuning and fresh batteries – teamwork and precision at its best.

Before Race 2, the whole team took part in the traditional track parade, proudly showing off our eye-catching Phoenix costume, which certainly turned a few heads in the crowd!

Race 2

The second race saw Polly take the opening stint, delivering our best lap times yet, followed by Jess who drove with focus, and finally Saskia, who brought the car home with real determination and control.

A special mention goes to our pit crew, Juno and Rosa, who did an excellent job coordinating communication between the driver and pit team throughout both races – their calm focus and quick thinking kept everything running smoothly.

It was an exhilarating day in a truly historic setting, and the team represented the school and GDST with professionalism, enthusiasm, and pride. When the final results came in, we were thrilled to discover we had finished 13th out of 48 in our class. This also meant we were the number one ranked kit car from an all girls school! An absolutely amazing result, and a perfect reward for months of hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

Well done to our Year 10 team: Polly, Juno, Saskia, Emily, Rosa, Tessa and Jess. We will certainly be back for the 2026 season with eyes on the prize!

As it is the end of the 2025 season, we would like to extend a huge thank you to our supporters and parents for their encouragement throughout the season, to our sponsors, and especially to Simon and Gill from Specialist Control Systems for their unwavering work and support. We’re also very grateful to the NHSA for providing the funding that helped make this incredible experience possible. A final thank you to the staff who have helped with F24 over the season.
