Norwich High School for Girls is delighted to be taking part in Heritage Open Days 2026, England’s largest festival of history and culture.

Heritage Open Days are an annual celebration of England’s history and culture that allows visitors free access to heritage sites and community events that are either not usually open to the public.

Join us on Saturday 19 September for a unique opportunity to explore our historic school and discover the stories that have shaped our community for more than 150 years.

Heritage Open Days Norwich 2026: Celebrating Everyday Histories

This year’s Heritage Open Days theme, Everyday Histories, celebrates the ordinary people, places and moments that have helped shape our shared past. At Norwich High, that means shining a light on generations of pupils, staff and families whose experiences have contributed to the school’s rich history and enduring legacy.

Throughout the event, our Archivist, Tom Greenwood, will bring these stories to life through a fascinating talk and guided tours, offering a unique insight into the school’s past.

Plan Your Visit: Guided Tours and Archivist Talk

Your visit includes a guided tour of Norwich High School for Girls, where you’ll discover the history of the Regency villa and its original architectural features, before exploring highlights from the school’s archive.

Archivist Tom Greenwood will also deliver a talk uncovering the stories behind the school’s rich heritage, from its early years to the present day.

Choose from one of two sessions:

Option 1 | 10am – 12pm

  • Guided tour: 10am – 10.45am
  • Archivist talk: 11am

Option 2 | 11am-1pm

  • Archivist talk: 11am
  • Guided tour: 12pm-12.45pm

Each guided tour is limited to 25 visitors, so advance booking is essential.
