We are excited to announce that Norwich High Prep School has been honoured with two prestigious awards in the Spring/Summer issue of The Week Independent Schools Guide Best of the Best Prep Schools: Best for Creative Arts and Best for STEM. With a record number of entries this year, The Week and its panel of experts have highlighted Norwich High Prep School as a trailblazer in both creative and STEM education, reinforcing our commitment to developing the whole child for future success.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive these awards, which reflect the immense passion, creativity and dedication demonstrated by our girls and staff. The recognition for both our Winter Arts Festival and STEM projects highlights the strength of our curriculum and our ability to nurture creativity and analytical thinking side by side.”

Best for Creative Arts

At Norwich High Prep, creativity is central to everything we do and our Winter Arts Festival is the embodiment of this ethos. Each February, our school transforms into a vibrant space for artistic discovery, offering a diverse range of workshops and performances led by talented artists, dancers and writers from across the country. The award recognises our 2024 festival, Find Your Rhythm, where students embraced unique artistic forms, from beatboxing to skateboarding and street dance, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and explore new avenues of self-expression.

As always, the festival integrated a focus on mental wellbeing, offering pupils time to reflect and connect with the theme on a deeper level. Through these activities, the festival fostered not only artistic growth but also emotional resilience, reinforcing our commitment to inspiring, nurturing and empowering every girl to realise her creative potential.

Best for STEM

Our approach to STEM education is forward-thinking and dynamic, equipping girls with the skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Recognised as finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Awards 2023 for our innovative design-engineering projects, we offer a rich blend of theoretical learning and hands-on activities. From constructing earthquake-resistant structures to coding challenges and exploring bio-plastics, our students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through practical experience.

STEM at Norwich High Prep extends beyond the classroom, with whole-school events like British Science Week offering interactive opportunities for pupils to engage with real-world scientific concepts. Additionally, our STEM programme is enriched by insightful talks from parents in STEM careers and field trips, such as the GDST wide Year 5 visit to the Royal Institution.

Our girls have access to cutting-edge tools like BBC Micro:bits and 1:1 iPads, ensuring they become confident digital learners. Our success exemplifies our belief that STEM is inclusive and accessible to all, with no barriers or stereotypes. Many of our girls go on to excel in these fields in Senior School and beyond, equipped to face future challenges with confidence.

“These accolades celebrate our achievements while reaffirming our commitment to providing an exceptional education for every girl at Norwich High Prep. As we continue to empower our girls in both creative and STEM disciplines, we are proud of the strength of our community and the boundless opportunities available to our girls.”
