Norwich High School and Norwich Swan Swimming Club Partnership

Posted on 2nd July 2021

We are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with local swimming club Norwich Swan, which will commence from September 2021. This will enhance our swimming provision across the school, working with experienced coaches from the club.

Some of the new opportunities for students include clubs for all our swimming squads in Prep (Year 5 & 6 Tuesday 4-5pm), Junior (Year 7 & 8 Thursday 4-5pm) and Senior (Year 9 to 13 Monday 4.45-5.45pm). These will begin from Monday 13th September, with all girls welcome to attend the first trials session. More details will follow when we return to school in September. Additionally, a coach from the club will work with PE staff to deliver all swimming lessons for Upper 1 to Lower 3 classes.

We are also excited to offer some new courses for our Sixth Form students to gain qualifications, leading to life skills and employment, such as the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. In addition, there will be the opportunity for our senior swimmers to work with the experienced coaches to be part of the Norwich Swan Coaching Academy and give back to the sport. Learn to swim classes for stages 1-5 will also take place on Tuesday evenings in our pool. Booking details will be sent out shortly.

In the future we are aiming to develop our swimming programme further, offering Swimming Clinics during the holidays and a range of lifesaving courses to name but a few!

Debra Smith, Director of Sport, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with Norwich Swan Swimming Club from September. Not only will the club gain more pool time using our fantastic facility, which is needed to maintain the momentum to progress the club beyond the National and British stage, but our girls will enjoy endless opportunities in swimming.
