Posted on 15th August 2024

It has been another incredible year for students at Norwich High School for Girls Sixth Form as they celebrate a wonderful set of exam results reflecting two years of hard work and determination.

26% of all results achieved were A*s.

94% of all results were A*-C.

80% of all results were A* to B, with 65% A*-A.

“These results are a testament to the incredible hard work our Class of 2024 students have shown throughout their A Level studies. They are full of potential and it will be very exciting to follow their next steps as they move on to higher education and the workplace. We continue to see a good number of our students reaching their offers for STEM subjects, pharmacy and medicine at university but are pleased to also see students going on to study languages, computer science, psychology, law, English and the arts. It is also of particular note this year that we have a student who has successfully secured a degree apprenticeship with Aviva.”

Alison Sefton, Head of Norwich High School for Girls GDST

Alison continued: “The success of our students is a shared achievement. The support from our dedicated teachers, who have gone above and beyond to ensure each student reaches their full potential, has been instrumental in this year’s achievements. Our teachers have consistently provided high-quality education, guidance and encouragement, helping our students to excel both academically and personally.

“Today is a day to celebrate their successes and look forward to the bright futures that lie ahead.”

EPQ Excellence at Norwich High

The EPQ grades achieved by the Norwich High Sixth Form students were excellent, with 68% of EPQ grades achieved at A*-A, and 16% A*.

“This year, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) programme has been marked by exceptional achievements and remarkable dedication from all participating students. The projects tackled a range of complex and thought-provoking topics, reflecting the students’ ability to engage deeply with their subjects. For instance, one project titled “Has the Development of Republican Populism had a Negative Impact on American Society?” delved into contemporary political dynamics and their societal implications.

“One of the most impressive aspects of this year’s EPQ achievements is the confidence students have gained in their specific areas of expertise. This was particularly evident in the final presentations, where students showcased their work to peers and supervisors. These presentations were a culmination of months of hard work and demonstrated the students’ deep understanding of their topics. The ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively is a valuable skill that will serve them well in their future endeavours.”
Abi Welbourne, EPQ Coordinator at Norwich High School for Girls
