You are warmly invited to join us for the Norwich High School for Girls 2026 Choral Concert on Thursday 19th March, set in the stunning Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Norwich.

The event will be a true celebration of musical diversity, putting our talented music students, school choirs and orchestra front and centre. Our students will also be joined by staff, alumnae and friends as they bring the performances to life. From traditional choral masterpieces to reimagined modern pieces, the programme has been designed to highlight the incredible talent and depth of our performers.

The concert is divided into two distinct halves, each offering a unique musical journey:

• Part One: From Classical to Contemporary – The evening begins with a diverse selection of works including the shimmering modern harmonies of Eric Whitacre and the romantic elegance of Cécile Chaminade. Our Year 13 soloists will take the spotlight with iconic operatic arias by Puccini and Mozart, alongside a virtuosic piano performance of Rachmaninov. We also look forward to an original work by our own Mr Joseph Wistow and a vibrant reimagining of Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars.

• Part Two: Rutter’s Magnificat – The second half is dedicated to John Rutter’s Magnificat. Rutter, one of the most influential choral composers of our time, infuses this work with rhythmic vitality, lush harmonies, and moments of profound serenity. From the exuberant opening to the tender Esurientes, this piece is a true celebration of life and faith, and a fitting climax to our evening. This work will be directed by Mrs Sarahjane Stephen, taking to the podium for this major work for the first time.

More than just a concert, this evening is a celebration of the Norwich High community. Regardless of musical background, this is an event for everyone to enjoy the power of collective performance.
