Norwich High School for Girls continues to deliver quality education and value for money after Autumn Budget statement

Norwich High School for Girls understands the impact on parents of the government’s recent addition of 20% VAT on independent school fees from 1 January 2025.

As part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), Norwich High School is committed to minimising the financial impact on families. From January 2025, the school will reduce its current fees by 6.67% before applying the mandated 20% VAT. This approach ensures that the overall increase in fees paid by parents will be limited to 12%.

The ability to mitigate the effects of VAT is made possible by the unique GDST network of 25 girls’ schools across England and Wales. Through efficient cost management and the ability to reclaim VAT on certain business expenses, Norwich High School can continue to provide high-quality education while offering exceptional value. As a not-for-profit organisation, all income is reinvested directly into enriching the educational experience for students.

In recognition of its strong performance, Norwich High School was named Norfolk’s best-value independent school by The Telegraph earlier this year, based on GCSE and A Level results relative to fees.

“Research shows that girls flourish in collaborative and discussion-driven environments. Single-sex education allows schools to focus on the unique needs of girls, leading to stronger academic performance, greater confidence and better career outcomes. We see this every day in our students.”

Addressing the introduction of VAT, Alison added: “We understand the challenges this will present for our families. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing an outstanding education, ensuring that each student is supported to achieve her full potential and thrive in every aspect of school life.”

Norwich High School for Girls continues to stand out as a leader in education, empowering girls to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
