Norwich High School for Girls GDST recognised as a Top Five School for Academic Excellence in East Anglia

Posted on 8th December 2025

Norwich High School for Girls GDST has been ranked among the best schools in the region.

Norwich High School for Girls GDST has been officially recognised as one of the top five schools for academic excellence in East Anglia, as published in the prestigious Sunday Times Parent Power League 2026.

The Sunday Times Parent Power league is the guide to the best national and regional schools of the year, ranking schools across the UK based on performance at A Level and GCSE in the summer of 2025.

Norwich High School for Girls GDST has been ranked as fifth overall in East Anglia and 136th nationally. This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, and we are delighted to be one of only two Norfolk schools to secure a place in the top ten East Anglian independent schools.

Our 2025 public examination results saw impressive outcomes, demonstrating high performance across a diverse range of subjects. At A Level, almost half of all results were A*-A, while at GCSE, 30% of all results were a grade 9, the highest possible grade. This success is underpinned by consistently high grades across all disciplines. Our students feel confident pursuing subjects traditionally dominated by boys, leading to a high uptake in STEM subjects at A Level, alongside strong engagement in creative disciplines, showing that our girls truly thrive across the breadth of the curriculum.

Our fantastic results also highlight the commitment and passion of our teaching staff. Underpinning our academic success is our teaching and learning ethos, driven by the conviction that teaching must be as deliberate, excellent and adaptive as the unique young women we educate. This strategic approach ensures that every lesson is purposeful and designed to build each girl’s confidence, resilience and voice.

This top-five ranking is a chance to acknowledge and commend the entire Norwich High School for Girls community, whose contributions shape our school into the distinctive and exceptional institution it has become. This accomplishment is owed to our aspirational students, our dedicated and inspirational staff, and the families who collaborate with us in supporting their daughters’ education.
