Norwich High School Parent Association

The Norwich High School Association (NHSA) is our PTA; it is very active and exceptionally well supported by parents, students and staff.

The NHSA raises money for a wide variety of school initiatives. Bids are received for fundraising support from across the whole school and the NHSA have been able to support so many of these because of the generosity of parents and sponsors at their fundraising events, as well as from funds generated through the second hand uniform shop. The other core purpose of the NHSA is to build the school’s community – all of the NHSA’s events are run with this in mind.

Some examples of recent projects include:

  • Play equipment including a playhouse for the Early Years Hub
  • Mud Kitchens, playground equipment and willow pieces for the Prep School
  • Microscopes, data loggers and probes for the Science Department
  • Table Football for the Senior School
  • Underwater cameras
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award support

The uniform shop, staffed by NHSA volunteers, can be found in the black wooden building next to the netball courts at our Christchurch Road entrance. You can purchase high quality brand new and gently used uniform directly from the shop during opening hours.

Please see the full uniform list here.

Volunteers

The uniform shop is always looking for volunteers to help out. Please contact nhsauniform@gmail.com if you are interested – we would love to hear from you! Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two dates a term and receive a 50% discount on purchases of the uniform stocked. You are also able to buy new items at cost price.

Selling uniform

If you would like us to sell your pre-loved uniform and have not registered your details with us already, you will need to complete and return the registration form here to nhsauniform@gmail.com before you can do so. The information you provide will only be used in connection with payments we make to you.

Labels

Once registered, please make sure you complete a label for each item you wish to sell and attach it with a safety pin (not dressmaker pins as these can cause injury). Labels are available to DOWNLOAD HERE.

Your uniform will need to be clean and in good condition. We do not accept stained or torn uniform and all our stock reflects these high standards.

Terms & Conditions

As a parent you will receive a BACS for 50% of the re-sale value of preloved uniform and the NHSA will keep 50% for their funds, all of which are used to benefit our students. If your item has not sold after two years, we will remove the label but the item will remain for sale in the shop. Most stock, especially PE kit, sells in a few weeks. If your donations require washing prior to us being able to sell them, we will remove the labels and you will not receive your 50%. The full Ts&Cs are available on your registration form.

NHSA Events

November Market
The market is organised each year and money raised has helped purchase key new equipment for the art department, cricket team and for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. The most recent market raised over £6,500. Visitors to the market can enjoy exploring a fantastic range of goods for sale, as well as a raffle and bottle tombola.

Quiz Night and Supper
The annual Quiz Night and Supper held in Eaton Grove Hall is always enjoyable and hotly contested. In the past, teams of parents, staff and sixth formers have helped to raise over £1,500.

May Ball
The May Ball in a local venue offers the opportunity for a night of glitz and glamour, with previous themes including Great Gatsby and James Bond. Guests enjoy pre-dinner drinks, a sumptuous three-course dinner, live music and dancing with previous events raising over £1,900.

Summer Fete
A key event in the school calendar, the summer fete in our grounds allows the girls to enjoy Donkey rides, slushies, slides and much more, whilst raising vital funds for the school.

Cake Sales
Each term, NHSA organise themed cake sales at both Stafford House and Eaton Grove, usually raising well over £200 at each event. Thank you to all girls and parents who bring in cakes and bakes, and our NHSA parents who volunteer their time to look after the stalls.
