Join us for the Norwich High School for Girls 2025 Choral Concert on Friday 21st March 2025, set in the stunning Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Norwich.

Alison Sefton, Head of Norwich High School for Girls, shared: “This much-anticipated event is a highlight of our music calendar. It brings together the extraordinary talent of our students alongside our vibrant community choir and orchestra, made up of staff, alumnae, parents and friends. Rehearsals began in January, and each year we are inspired by the dedication and passion of everyone involved in creating a truly exceptional performance.”

We are delighted to announce the programme for the concert which will include Choral Music and Solo instrumental works from Vivaldi, Albinoni, Williams, Bergersen, Adkins and Todd.

Vivaldi’s Gloria
One of Vivaldi’s most celebrated works, Gloria reflects the exceptional musical training provided at the Ospedale della Pietà, a Venetian orphanage for girls where Vivaldi taught music from 1703. The piece showcases Vivaldi’s bright, engaging melodies and rhythmic vitality, which lend it an enduring, universal appeal.

William’s Hymn to the Fallen
An iconic choral film score, Steven Spielberg comments that Hymn to the Fallen “stand[s] the test of time and will honor forever the fallen of war” and felt it showed Williams’ “sensitivity and brilliance” as a composer.

Bergersen’s Heart of Courage
Adapted for our ensemble by Director of Music, Mr Mark Hall, Heart of Courage is widely cited in TV and Film, and used in professional sports scenarios for pre-motivational conditioning due to its ‘epic’ qualities.

Todd’s Mass in Blue
Composed in 2003, this dynamic work blends driving jazz rhythms with strong choral writing, complemented by solo piano and soprano vocals. The piece is a testament to Todd’s mastery of both jazz and choral traditions, creating a vivid and innovative musical experience.

Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start. The concert is due to finish at 9.30pm.
