Welcoming Our New Head: Ms Nicola Griffiths Joins Norwich High School for Girls GDST

Posted on 15th April 2026

Norwich High School for Girls GDST is delighted to welcome our new Head, Ms Nicola Griffiths.

Norwich High School for Girls is thrilled to announce that Ms Nicola Griffiths has officially begun her tenure as Head in an exciting new chapter for our community and for every girl who walks through our doors.

Nicola brings with her a wealth of leadership experience and a deep belief in the transformative power of girls’ education. Having served as Principal at St Mary’s School Colchester and Acting Head at Ipswich High School, she has built a reputation as a leader who champions ambition, nurtures confidence and challenges gender stereotypes. With an MA in Biological Sciences and a PGCE in Science from Oxford University, Nicola combines academic rigour with a passion for evidence‑based teaching and the development of strong female role models.

In her first days at Norwich High, Nicola has already been immersing herself in school life – meeting students, staff and families, and experiencing first-hand the energy, curiosity and courage that define Norwich High students. She has spoken often about how inspired she is by our students’ confidence and creativity, and how excited she is to help every girl discover her voice and her power.

“It is a privilege to begin my role as Head of Norwich High School for Girls GDST. This is a remarkable school with a proud history and a bright future. I am excited to work with our students, families and staff as we continue to champion girls’ education and nurture every girl’s potential.”

Our thanks to Mrs Jane Prescott

As we welcome Nicola, we also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Jane Prescott, who served as Interim Head since September 2025. Her steady leadership and warmth ensured continuity and confidence throughout the transition. We are deeply grateful for her commitment to our school and wish her every success in her next chapter.

Looking Ahead

Nicola joins Norwich High at a moment of real momentum. With strong academic outcomes, a vibrant co‑curricular programme and a community built on kindness, ambition and courage, the school is poised for an exciting future.

Over the coming term, families, alumnae and friends will have opportunities to meet Nicola and hear more about her vision for empowering girls to learn without limits. We look forward to sharing these details soon.

For now, we are delighted to welcome Nicola to Norwich High School for Girls – and we look forward to the inspiring leadership she will bring as we continue to help every girl grow into the confident, trailblazing young woman she is meant to be.
