Students raise over £145 for GlobalGiving’s India Covid Relief Fund

Students from Form Upper 4H have raised over £145 for the India Covid-19 Relief Fund run by GlobalGiving, a non-profit organisation that connects donors with grassroots projects around the world.

The form group walked, ran, cycled, rowed, sailed and paddled the length of Britain (600 miles /965 km) to raise funds for the Covid-19 outbreak in India.

“Whilst discussing this idea, we decided that we would do this for a charity as well as just doing it to help get us outside and keep fit.” said Eleanor (U4H).

“After chatting about which charity we could help, we decided that a good one would be a Covid-19 relief charity; in particular we thought we would help GlobalGiving which is helping with the Covid-19 outbreak in India. More than 200,000 people have died due to a second coronavirus surge in India and hundreds of thousands of people are infected each day. Many are unable to get the medical help they need.”

“The form put a lot of thought into the charity they wanted to support,” said Form Tutor Mr Horne. “They demonstrated excellent planning skills and an admirable determination to complete their goal. An inspiring effort, well done!”

Head of Upper 4 Mr Thomas added: “I am very proud of them. They have shown initiative, determination and a care for the wider global community.”

Donations to this fund will help treat patients and slow the spread of Covid-19 in India. It is not too late to support this worthy cause, please donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/u4h-walking-the-length-of-britain
