New MCCF Girls’ Cricket Hub for Norfolk

One of the coaches for the Girls’ Hub sessions is Abi Sutherland, who is the Disability Development Officer at Norfolk Cricket Board as well as an alumna of Norwich High School for Girls.

Norwich High School for Girls is the host venue for the new MCCF Girls’ Cricket Hub in Norfolk which is launching in the new year. The MCC Foundation runs a network of more than 120 cricket hubs serving around 4,000 young players across the UK and providing access to free coaching and match play for state-educated cricketers aged 11-16.

“We are so excited to launch the first Norfolk MCCF Girls’ Hub at Norwich High School for Girls. The sessions delivered by Norfolk Cricket Board coaches will see the girls having fun whilst being supported to reach their full potential both on and off the cricket pitch.”

The hard ball sessions, starting on 24th January, will run for 10 weeks for those not currently playing in a County Team.”

Marie Hood, Head of Year 11, Director of Co-Curricular, and PE Teacher at Norwich High School for Girls added: “We are delighted to be opening up our sports facilities as the host for the new MCCF Girls’ Hub. This commitment forms part of our extensive community partnership programme and we are passionate about reaching as many girls as possible. My colleague, Assistant Director of Sixth Form at Norwich High, Sam Tea and I will be supporting the experienced coaches from Norfolk Cricket Board. Girls cricket is one of the fastest growing sports around and the new MCCF Girls’ Hub will help those who want to find out more to access the game.”
