Congratulations to the Upper Sixth!

Students and staff at Norwich High School for Girls GDST are celebrating A Level results today following a turbulent 18 months of study, periods of Guided Home Learning and an adapted process of assessment.

There were terrific individual successes and particular congratulations must go to Evelyn Amies, Darcy Amiss, Charlotte Carr, Tallulah Brookes-Davies, Sophie Barrow, Lucy Bell, Rebecca Garrould, Matilda Hayes, Maisie Howard, Emma Ledward, Nina Metcalf, Catherine Moir, Jenna O-Flynn, Aditi Prabhu, Rebecca Sampson, Mia Sharrock, Sophie Sutherland, Eleanor Widdows and Tabitha Yull who all received straight A* to A grades and the following girls who achieved straight A*s:

Charlotte Carr who has been at the school since Year 7 gained 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geography as well as an A in her topical EPQ where she investigated the factors influencing global vaccination coverage – an outstanding achievement and we wish her the best as she goes on to read Medicine at Imperial College London.

Sophie Barrow who joined Norwich High School for Sixth form achieved 3A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Geography is going on to read Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool.

Deputy Head Girl, Mia Sharrock who joined the school in Year 2, gained 3A*s in Biology, History and Psychology and will be taking a gap year before pursuing a degree in Psychology at the University of York.

Music Captain, Lucy Bell secured 3A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics along with an A* in her EPQ on genetic and environmental influences on behaviour. She will be going on to study Natural Sciences at the University of York.

Maisie Howard gained 3A*s in Psychology, Spanish and Philosophy and Ethics and is now preparing to begin a university degree in Liberal Arts at the University of Leeds.

Emma Ledward with 3A*s in German, Mathematics and Physics and an A in her EPQ. Going on to read Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.

Catherine Moir who has been at Norwich High School since Nursery achieved 3A*s in English Literature, French and German will go to the University of Edinburgh to read French and Russian studies.

Jenna O’Flynn with 3A*s in French, Psychology and Spanish will be going to the University of Bath to read Modern Languages.

Aditi Prabhu achieved 3A*s in Physics, Mathematics and Art as well as an A* in her EPQ on Eugenics and an additional A in Further Mathematics and has secured a place to read Physics at Imperial College London.

Tabitha Yull achieved 3A*s in Business, French and Psychology and will be going on to read Psychology at the University of Nottingham.

Deputy Head Girl, Tallulah Brookes-Davies also deserves a mention for her significant achievement in gaining 4 A-levels: A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and an A in Physics. She is taking a gap year before going to university in 2022.

Alison Sefton, Head, commented on the students’ successes:

“The school has been committed to delivering fair outcomes for all our students through the Teacher Assessed Grade process and is delighted that the grades submitted were confirmed by the examination boards today. We are all really proud of the achievements of all our Upper Sixth students and are delighted that so many of them have secured their first choice university places.”

Alison continued: “I must also say a huge thank you to all our teaching staff who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to ensure that the students were ready for their assessments and the grades submitted were appropriate for each student. As this year’s cohort head off on new adventures, whether it be to university, into work or on gap years, I wish them all the best for the future and look forward to hearing of their successes.”
