Congratulations to three groups of budding cinematographers from Norwich High School for Girls who last month enjoyed success at the 2024 GDST Film Festival awards ceremony at Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

Open to all GDST students from Year 7-13, students were asked to submit a short film no more than seven minutes long under the theme ‘Flip the Script: A Different Perspective’ in two age categories: Years 7-9 and 10-13. They had to write a script, storyboard it, film it and then edit it. They did all of this in just four weeks from start to finish.

The films from the Norwich High Year 7, 8 and 11 teams were all shortlisted and Year 7 won ‘Most Creative’ and Year 8 won ‘Best Cinematography’.

At the awards evening, thirty eight films were showcased from across the GDST family. The films varied enormously through the use of film language and the stories they told. This award was set up to acknowledge the diverse creativity of GDST students; Tuesday night saw a celebration of potential future filmmakers.

Well done to:

Year 7 won the ‘Most Creative’ prize in their age category for their film ‘Every Little Thing’: by Lily C, Lily M, Ifsa-Lily, Khloe and Poppy

Year 8 won the ‘Best Cinematography’ prize in their age group for their film ‘Change our ending’: by Nyah, Chloe and Primrose. Click here to watch their entry.

Year 11 shortlisted in their age category for ‘Withering’: by Mia, Evie and Florence
